Being a bit of a n00b I am not sure when it is realistic to serious;y consider our first trip of the year.

This is always a difficult one those under canvas, Caravaners and motorhomes can go earlier in the year some any time off the year. Some Canvas campers will go whatever the weather.

Most though will wait for the warmer weather. Those with heaters, a good sleeping bag will look at easter weekend. Personally myself i prefer it to be a little warmer than that having two under fives.

If your comfy in the evening standing outside in a t-shirt then you should be ok. as the colder part off the night is spent in the bag.

We will keep this one going so we can add our dates in as we plan.

We were originally looking May but we now booked for a week in spain (non camping) boys want to go on a plane :)

Don't think we'll be braving it until May - no heater in our tent :-)

We're off bank holiday weekend too, although not in a field behind a pub :-)

Hope it goes well.

Might try for whit weekend - though last year that week (first week of June) we camped at Mother Ivey's Bay in Cornwall and the weather was glorious, best of the summer, so I can't believe that can happen two years in a row!
mind you, we're probably heading for Scotland, so we'll be prepared for all conditions! ;)
Would have gone for this weekend if we hadn't been so busy, though.

We are noobs too, went this weekend for only our second ever trip, funnily enough in a field behind a pub. Posted a synopsis in the Camping Diary section if you want to have a look.

We had a fan heater, 2 season sleeping bags and our duvets on budget self-inflating mats and foam roll mats, along with hot bottles for the kids (12, 6, and 5). Yes it was cold, but not unbearable.

Just a little tip, my kids have 2season bags, but I picked up a couple of really cheap sleeping bags from Aldi (about a £5 each I think). The ones I picked up were normal bags and I slide there mummy style bags into them (double bagger, if you'll pardon the expression). Now I don't know for sure, but I guess that makes them about 3 season bags :ugeek: .

Also, each family member has a neck warmer and generally wears it all night at this time of year. Lacking in hair I also wear a beanie hat through the night,,,,,,,,,,,lovely and warm :D

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...
