Milton Keynes Gullivers Theme Park is going to have its own Camping and Caravan Club Site. Placed between Gullivers and Dinosaur and Farm park.

30 Hard standing pitches and a number of Eco camping pods to be included.

Although no completion date has been set, Being local to this. I will take a drive past and check it. try and get some photos. as work has started already so i suspect ready for next season.

Cool that's far enough away to justify a weekend away but not so far it's a pain

I went down and took a look round today out of interest. Was only by chance i found it, as no real building work has started however the EHU plug in points have been installed which gave it away.

The park is to be located behind the Dino park which is a pretty good location to be honest, its away from the road close to both parks and the Grand Union Canel is across the road (minor road) so if your into your fishing also easy access.

Willan Lake is also within walking distance with many watersport options and an extreme high wire climbing zone. Pub and hotel also on site.

Check the map view to see further.

This will be a blow to the caravan and camping club, Although details are slim at the moment but news in is that Gullivers land has last a large section of the park to a fire this morning. Fire crews were drafted in as far away as High Wycombe to assiste in bringing the fire under control.

Real shame and will post further details as they are available.

Thought id offer something further on this one as we took the kids to gullivers over the christmas break to see santa.. And although the reports were that the park was pretty damaged in the fire we could see no evidence of this and the park as far as i could tell (not having been before) was all open apart from the Log Flume which was closed due to be frozen solid! (Personally I would have opened under the new name of The Bobsleigh :) )

As for the caravan park, you cant always get round the back as its often closed off i assume this is during the winter as no access required so no photos sorry.

Been reading this with interest.

Question.

We have hard-standing, presumably for Caravans and we have Pods for,,,,,, :| , well anyway, we have pods. Is that the total, or is that just additional to grass pitches. The EHU you found, were they for the hard-standing only or on grass pitches.

Where do the tents go :? , I've read somewhere, that certain hard-standing are for tents and can take pegs like grass, but don't know much about this.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Now its lighter in the evening, I'll take the boys for a walk one evening this week with the camera. It backs onto the Grand Union Canel so can get round the back even when closed on foot.

On the hard standing, We have pitched on a site that uses hard standing. but this was like a very fine chalk/sand/gravel kind of thing. not the sort of thing that would puncture.. its placed over the grass and then compacted with a roller. personally I prefered it! yes a little harder under the foot.. but far warmer in the morning and Im pretty sure made it difference to the normal morning condensation.. we had none!

I have just been reading some opinions on hard standing for tents. Most seem in favour, but recommend a footprint as a precaution. Also recommended is the Rock Peg kit. Its worth buying as part of your kit as a precaution, it seems people have had to move unexpectedly on to hard-stand in bad rain.

Looking forward to how this might develop, like the sound of it.

I notice it gets a small piece in The Camping Magazine this month on Page 33. Looks like its open for business :D

Anybody who doesn't have The magazine delivered, try and buy it this month (June 2010 edition) as it is a thick bumper edition with a free copy of "Go Camping" worth £4.99, good value :D

Your right Andy, it is £4.99 to buy. But mine came through the post in a plastic wrapper and it included the Go Camp Mag with it. :?: :?

Took the Boys for a walk this afternoon..

Took a few photos whilst out n about. I uploaded to google panoramio instead of the gallery for a change simply because I have tagged the photos on the map so you can get a better idea of the layout :) (map tags take a few days to appear)

Campsite Entrance

Hard Standing Pitch. (we had some discussion about this last week.. and having seen them today i would not want to be pitching a tent on these, very large stones used. Website states they take tents so must be grass pitches)

Dino Park Entrance

Gullivers Land Entrance

Now in the interest of research.. We walked from the site to the pub at Willan Lake, simply to show the distance and time. (I tracked it using my phone :))

0.47 Miles, and took 10 mins, However my boys were more interested on anything but walking so suspect you could do it quicker, We also opted for the longer route. their is a pathway between the two parks.

Pub

Overview of willen lake

Willen Lake also has a pretty large park, (forgot to grab a photo sorry, we went to fun spot instead)

Funspot

   Excellent.

That fun spot looks like its been stolen from Blobby Land :D .

I really fancy this at some point, but can you just positively confirm that you think the pub can be reached in 5mins without stops and on a direct route

Without a doubt, Zac was really trailing behind. had to keep stopping for him to catch up...

On the direct route.

You take this path.

Other side of the Trees left is Gullivers, and the right is Dino Park, The campsite is also to the right but behind you.

End of this path hidden by trees is an underpass (no main roads to cross)

This is looking out from the underpass in the direction you just came from, The entrance to Gullivers is just through the trees on the right.

This is looking in the direction you would be travling to the Pub from the underpass. Steps in view is to reach funspot.

Its at this point when you reach the steps you have a few choices. (Notice Zac still trailing behind above!!!)

1. go through to Fun Spot up the steps (another exit/entrance inside near the pub)
2. Walk round to the right to the pub (quickest)
3. Walk round the left past the Wake Boarding and Park.

We took option 3 (Zac still trailing behind! wondering off investigating anything that looks like....... well...... simply anything!!...........................(Yes i know thats blake, but if you look Zac can be seen on the Hill.......Just!!!))
