Out of season bargins you bought.....

I was curious on how many of us got a good deal on an item over the winter months, I didnt need to buy much but i wanted to get a new headlight, I was looking for something with a decent amount of light, for cheap, but i didnt want a poundshop special..

So today I managed to pick myself up a Silva Siju for a massive £4.99 and im rather impressed with its performance, only weighing in at 35g, it gives out 16 lumen's on max, and a max of 48 hour run time on battery's

I really haven't been looking for camping bargains this year as there is nothing I need (please note, I say need, rather than want) but was on a day trip to York today, saw the Yeomans and thought it would be rude not to nip in.

The footprint for my Coleman Coastline 6 RRP £45, bought my last one for £30 but got a spare in Yeomans today for £2.95!! I would have taken both the ones that were left but it was too heavy to cart around the shops and we'd come on the train.

I've bought a Mountain Hardwear duvet jacket yesterday in the local Salvation Army charity shop for £5.49!!!!!! Bargain of the century!! :D :D :D :D
It's in mint condition, very clean, to the point of it appearing not to have been worn.
Hilleberg Nammatj 3GT, Terra Nova Quasar, Cabanon Andorra & Calais, Outwell Trout Lake, Hi-Gear Ion 3 and hopefully a Field Candy 'Get a Room' coming soon!

I have been after a BIG mug and got myself a 450ml double wall stainless job for just over £5 from Lansdale. Not quite a pint but enough for a 'proper' cup of tea. The green paint will probably not last the year mind

For my lightweight kit I have been pondering the MSR Titan kettle, the rrp is £55 but they have been cropping up for £35 over the winter - but even that seemed excessive. In the end I went for the MSR Stainless steel kettle/teapot that I got for a bargain £17.50 from theoutdoorshop.com. It is ace as the big lid lets me get my Windpro stove inside, you boil it like a kettle and then put teabags inside and use it like a teapot . . . lovely

Got a new LifesSystems First Aid kit from theoutdoorshop too as that was decently reduced as well

- only saved a few quid really, but it always feels good (to me at least)

we had a shopping spree down at Camping and General (http://www.campingandleisure.co.uk) in Canvey, they were offering 20% off their entire stock, so the wife thought rather than saving money we can buy 20% more stuff we dont need :tune:

we did pick up a couple of Coleman widebeam torches, reduced from something like 12.99 to 2.99 then got another 20% off, and what i didn't realize was a good deal at the time we picked up a Campingaz Bleuet Cv 300 Lantern Pz for £12.60
We picked up a "HUGE" 8m Vango 6 pole windbreak for around £36 which i didn't think was a bad price.

Just picked up a couple of different hight plastic collapsible stools from Bid.tv for £7.99 with us both being vertically challanged its hard to do up the cable straps to hold the internal lantern in the Vermont, then the stools will become tables when not in use as stool.

And i suppose the last of the savings over winter was buying the side awning for our vermont XL, outdoorworlddirect where offering a good price and an additional 10% off, this just about killed the wallet, bank account and kids money boxes
Camping gear all set, now how do I fit it in the car......

I treated myself to a new HiGear Sahara 6 tent, managed to get it for £200 so I was pleased with that.
Just started doing things I used to love as a kid, bought myself and Hi Gear Sahara 6, footprint & carpet to start.

Hi am new to this but I came across what i thought was a really good bargain at the end of december 2011. I bought a Vango Diablo 900 xp with footprint, and canopy and carpet all in brand new condition for £50. Although having recently built it i have found this tent to be quite big for me my partner and 2yr old son. So i will be selling it to the highest bidder, shame though as its a lovely tent once all built up.

you could always park the car inside, so at least when your packing it up, everything should stay dry.

a tent is never to big, you will fill all that space up and then some..

I would keep it to be honest .....

Most likely won't take any longer to pitch than a smaller tent but the space will be a godsend

I started off looking for an awning for our existing tent, and ended up getting the awning and the tent it was originally designed for. I convinced myself that a) it was a bargain ( certainly so), b) Would be a guaranteed fit c) Would look better as a green on green combo, rather than green on blue (original tent).

It was a bargain because it's obsolete, but I also sourced a few extras elsewhere that where clearance lines at end of season.

So we have a Salinas L, Salinas awning, Salinas footprint, and a Montana Lake carpet, which should fit it.

First site booking is Easter in the New Forest, but we might nip away to have a test pitch before then.

Oh and the old tent we're keeping for now as other family members want to borrow it, and they aren't borrowing the new one.
