Hi Everybody,

Just to give you an update, we have made a tent purchase !!

Whilst I have taken on board everything you guys have suggested on here and whilst I still covet the Outwells ( although the Kampa's look good too) I couldn't get my head around what we would do if the whole family hated it and we were £1,000 in. Fortunately 2 things came to my aid. First a friend lent me his Coleman Columbia, so the missus, kids and I spent Sunday night in our back garden ! One night of camping DONE ! The second thing was a sale at Go Outdoors where they were offering their Kalahari 10 for £189 instead of £350. Now I know it's not an Outwell but for that price I thought, we could have a few weekends and find out if it is really for us and then upgrade in a couple of years when budget allows. In fact we now have 2 other families coming with us so we were all in the queue first thing on Bank Holiday morning buying Kalahari's and we have our first weekend booked at Debden House in Essex !

Thanks again for all the advice, it has been really helpful. I'm off to start a thread about what I consider to be the next most important thing. Sleeping arrangements !!

Have a good day all

Marky

Marky, Excellent.

Looks like a bargain, think you have done a good move. :D

Look forward to seeing some pics of the tent and how your first trip away goes.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Most likely would be the same again becouse of how good it is :D

Bur i also saw the Hi gear corado 8 at Go Outdoors and was really impressed at what a big, well made and light and airy tent it was

Glad you got sorted and think it a wise move to start with one tent and build up to the big spend

have you lot had a look at the 2010 Royal tents - there's some nice looking tents there - especially the polycotton one
