Hi Boesh
Looking at your tent I would recommend that you get A Tatonka tarp 1 this is 4.25 x4.45 meters and can be used in many ways In very hot weather it can be guyed over the whole tent with a small sun canopy over the door. This will form a second skin raised by the existing poles to allow and airflow this will cool the inside of the tent by quite a few degrees and will work in reverse in cold weather alternately buy three adjustable poles and make a large sun canopy were you can cook sit and eat under Adjust the tarp to stop rain entering as you like loosen the guy ropes one side and tighten the other this as many advantages over a fixed canopy, here was my set up with the Tatonka tarp 1 TC poly cotton, you would require the Tatonka tarp 1 polyester . http://.........../apps/photos/al ... id=6938100
Scroll down to see the Tatonka Tarp 1(Basil) in polyester. http://lakelandbushcraft.co.uk/acatalog ... Tarps.html
All the best

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum.

I agree with Rex, would make a cool tent in the heat

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Hello Boesh,

Welcome to the forum, for 2012 there will be a Birdland Front Extension introduced with an RRP of £125.

It is an open extension which fits onto the front of the tent, will be available in March 2012, hope that helps.

Question 1: About the tarp, see picture. What are the "things" at the pink arrows? I hope that are not holes for the tent-stocks, as i expect troubles when it rains. Please clarify.

Question 2: And i assume the "things" at the blue arrows are holes to put the tentstocks in?

On http://www.facebook.com/outwell/posts/208072782579787 the Outwell Representative did not and could not confirm the availability of a Front End Extension.

Advice on 3/4 man tents

Postby Nor_free on Mon Jan 02, 2012 11:38 pm

Hi
Alas my tent has come to the end of it's life expectancy and I'm now looking for a 3/4 man tent. With the amazing sales going on I have been looking at the Outwell Birdland or the Vango Orchy 500 (2010). I have read some mixed reviews on the Vango 500 but wondered if someone could give me any advice or recommendations? Even on something completely different. Price wise I was looking between £150-250. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

I consider and use the Outwell Birdland as a two person tent... no idea where the third person should sleep. So if you are looking for a 3/4 person tent... try something else, not a Birdland.

Hi Boesh,

I can confirm there is definitely an extension, whoever the rep was, must be confused, it is confirmed in my orders for 2012.

I can check with outwell if you like? I even have the manufacturer part code : 110121
