have to admit to loving that extended ridge look, my Isabelle is a pain to erect like that - how easy does it go up ?

Also, Brian please can we have a pic to use on Joy of Canvas, there is a Good Companions page on the website but it isnt a tent I am that familair with so any additional info (eg features, dimensions etc) and pics would be great

Hi Littleskink, once the inner is set up using the A frame as normal there is a ridge pole which connects to the top of the A frame then goes forward and sits on top of a single upright pole. The extended flysheet simply gets thrown over the top and pegged down.

I had a few problems to start with because i thought i had extra poles and could not work out how they should go together, but once i looked at the flysheet and read on a little tag that it was an extended one then it all fell in to place.

I have some other photos of it but did not take any dimensions  I will gladly send you the photos for your website.

I have now listed all my old canvas on Fleebay and will be donating any profit to a local Guide group which will be used to take the guides away camping for a couple of nights, The cost of taking them camping has allways been too expensive for them so it will do them some good.

Hi, the picture is of Karen and our tent at our favourite campsite - Dolgamedd, near Dolgellau. We love to have a proper fire, when I was a kid you could have a fire most anywhere - not so now and this site's the nicest we've found - (we're gardeners and collect a few logs through the season) - is there a section somewhere here for campfires?

We got this tent from a local paper ad. and after searching the web I reckoned it to be a Cabanon Isabelle - not sure though - but whatever it is can someone tell me what I'm really sposed to be doing with that extra piece you can see slung over the back - Before I found this site this morning I was actually just looking for "tent awnings" (rainy days ahead by the look)... when I thought that maybe we could somehow rig this extra sheet as an awning.

Hi Karen and Peter

nice tent

this link might help identify things
http://sites.google.com/site/thejoyofcanvas/tents/cabanon-isabelle

If it says Cabanon and is a few years old then I would guess Isabelle too. The model code is usually inside the bedroom sewn to the SIG

Looking at what is in your picture I am guessing it might be incomplete. There should be a main flysheet in Canvas, and extension in Canvas and a Bell/front in Canvas - these zip together so you can have (i) open front (ii) closed front (iii) extended front (extended and closed front)

There should be a spare ridge pole and upright to go on the front to hold up the extension. If it is missing I can get sizes off mine as it would be fairly easy thing to make something workable

Help yourself to any of the Sunncamp Ranch pics in my album, I'll try & get a few of he Cabanon Chambord up soon.

Although I'm getting used to resizing them for this forum, it's still a bit of a PITA, although I can't remember if one needs to resize pics for the album or not???

I'm fast running out of things to do on line (rainy day & all that) so I'm glad someone bought this topic back up, it's been a while since I looked at joyofcanvas :D

Hi Karen Pete and a warm welcome to the forum.

We don't have a section as such on campfires, but there is a thread somewhere about campfires, I'll try and find it.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

err, me too . . . :tune:

really need some time on there but too much else seems to get in the way (like studies, and trying to find clients, and looking after 2 young kids, and . . . and . . .)

mind you it seems to keep getting more traffic every week without my input/involvement - which is a good thing I suppose (hope)

I might be able to put you some stuff together, only some of my own ramblings.
Trouble with me is, I say stuff like this, weeks go by with nothing, then all of a sudden i'll sit down & rattle something off!

See what I come up with, it'll obviously be up to you what you do with it, but expect an email in a week or 2!
