Robens 2011

Postby Admin on Sun Aug 15, 2010 10:07 pm

A few pics what Robens is upto for next year.. (for walkers anyway)

A couple of tents that use a normal walking pole as support which will reduce weight for those carying on the backpack. Great Idea!

The new Atmos tent has been designed as a two-person shelter that uses four trekking poles instead of conventional alloy or fibreglass poles. Two of them are used in fully extended mode to create a central arch, while two others are used at either end to 'create the overall shape of the tent'.

There's also a 1160g single-skin tent called the Stratos which relies on a single trekking pole for support. That's pretty light when you consider that it's claimed to be large enough to sleep no fewer than four people.

Some interesting designs. I like the idea of using the walking poles, shame its not just two walking poles and two light weight poles with the tent, unless I guess its for a couple to share and they get two walking poles each. Are the poles supplied with tent, would imagine they are.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

That's really interesting
I would really like to see them on display to see exactly how they work.
At least it prooves they have a designer that is actually putting some thought and brains into designing their tents.
He/She probalbly is a walker and camper him/herself

Robens have a few tents already in the range where you can use walking poles - its not a new idea - its been around a while.

The Robens Summer Wind has always had this feature - the new ranges are nice but very high end - really high RRP's but you get what you pay for i guess. The quality of the poles and flysheet are good - i think the alloy pole they use is the best on on the market - the type you find in the high end mountain tents etc.

Always wondered why nobody produced a tent that used a bike as it's support (somehow) for cycle camping.
