Hi and a warm welcome to the forum., hope you manage to source one

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Hi there , and welcome to the forum :D

We used to have a Colorado 5 some years ago (2003 model Ithink ) Dark Blue in colour .... Great tent

When we were at the NEC show a few weeks back , we were chatting with one of the Outwell guys about what tents we have and what tents we have had in the past , and the Colorado 5 came into the conversation .
He did tell us that the Colorado 5 was to be introduced again , so you may be in luck .

Cannot find any info on this on-line , but may be worth sending them an e-mail to see if you can find out more .

When we had ours , this was long before Outwell brought out extensions/awnings etc for their tents , but what we used to do , and I'm guessing your model does the same ,
The whole front panel could be zipped off , and zipped back on one pole section further back , in effect creating a canopied area , albeit losing some living space area to do so . We used to have it canopied like that during the day , then zip the panel back on the front at night , having the larger living space when we were inside the tent at night .

I agree a Front extension would be better , if you can find one , they certainly did them for it when they re-introduced the tent ( 2008 ish ??) .

The Colorado's sometimes pop up on ebay and the likes , so worth keeping an eye out .

Will keep my eyes and ears open , and post if I ever see one .

thnx for this link, i emailed outwell to ask if they were going to produce a front extension and the 1st reply i got back was that they were not producing the tent and where did i get my info from !!, i sent them your link and got an apology back and no they were not doing an extension. We then went to a tent event near canterbury on saturday and spoke to an outwell rep who suggested to look at side extensions and showed us the one for the magic tent range which appears to be the same sizes as colorado (and the same colour) so thats what we have plumped for

thnx posting.php?mode=reply&f=17&t=2361#to all

Glad your sorted.

Is it me or has anybody else noticed that Outwell Customer Service isn't always 100%. Don't get me wrong, there pretty good, but there just not all that.

As I'm in the same situation as you were I'm wondering how you've got on with the magic side extension? Does it fit OK? Would be grateful for any input, if it works well we'll probably get one before our main hols in a few weeks time.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. We're off on hols tomorrow but it's still good to know anyway. We allowed ourselves to be talked out of getting one by our local Outwell stockist (who does tend to know everything) so I'll take great delight in going back there and letting him know when we get one. I've taken the liberty of PMing you my email address, if you wouldn't mind sending me a picture that would be great.

Thanks
Matthew

If anyone's still curious about using a Magic side extension with their old model Colorado 5 I've posted a couple of pictures in the gallery of the extension in action. These two show the Magic side extension on the front of the Colorado 5 (that's what I did having picked one up for £79.00)

The other is from Snosball who contributed earlier to this thread and shows it on the side, which in hindsight is much the better option.

The extension still worked well for me on the front but it's a lot neater on the side and fits the shape of the tent much better.
