General advice and questions on any accessories

We are currently saving up for one, apparently they are a must have, the OH has informed me. We have just sold a few bits on Ebay and have about £90 saved up in Paypal, got to dig a few more unwanted items out yet :D .

I was having a skim through other similar fridges and came across this one, if it was £200 I might be tempted :)

3 way Fridge Freezer, 30ltr fridge and 16ltr freezer here on EBay

Realy nice, but £525, come on, what the hell does it come with,,,,,,,,,,a fitted kitchen :o

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Am tempted to get the Waeco/Tristar one but one thing is putting me off, how do you close the lid with the pineapple sticking out? And if you can't where do you keep your pineapples? I suppose you can take the bananas out as they go weird in the fridge don't they.

On a more serious note, can you use the same gas bottle for the fridge and cooker? Is there a way to split the supply safely?

Yeh It is our next major buy, we are currently sorting out anything we can stick on Ebay to fund the purchase. Gonna hold off buying this until someone can confirm the Pineapple issue

3 way nozzle from Yeomans snip at £3.50

Image

pack of 2 hose clips £1.99 (you would need 1 set as you get 2 with hose)

Image

1.5M hose + 2 hose clips £6.99

The bit I don't get:
If a Propane regulator is set to deliver 37mbar, does that mean when you fit a splitter, each piece of equipment is getting half pressure :?: . I tend to think that's incorrect, but I'm not sure why.

No, I think the pressure stays the same. I read up on some campervan forums about it and it seem to be fine.

I looked at the splitters and the only issue I can see is I need to be able to disconnect the fridge from the rest as I don't want it permanently attached to the cooker (via a hose).

So in a addition I need some sort of self-sealing in-line connector like you get for garden hoses.

The alternative is having to swap the hoses over and that's not something I really want to have to do every time we pitch up.

Yeh, this is a good point and something that I would need myself, I imagine.

Its something that's on my mind a lot at the moment. I think Andy brought to a head our biggest problem, keeping food in any quantity cold. This coupled with the fact that you don't need EHU to power opens up a lot of campsites to us without being tied to EHU.

You have further thought out the problem by only having to take one gas bottle, but my next issue will be how long does a gas bottle keep it going for.

Still not sure about the pineapples though

I am slowly coming to the conclusion that we'll just have to forgo our fresh pineapple while camping, thanks goodness caviar comes in small tins.

We have the same issue with food and this does seem the ideal (if slightly pricey) solution.

I am thinking we would plug it in, in the car on the journey (we've got a 12v socket in the boot).

I can feel a blog post coming on. :-)

I have never bothered plugging the basic cooler fridge in during the journey, but with this model it does seem like an idea to plug it in the kitchen a few hours before, then fill it and transport it to the car and keep it plugged in.

Usually we just fill the cool bag and load the fridge up there as well as try to keep things cool for another day in the bag.

On the price front, it does seem to have come down a little. The new price on EBay is averaging £150 and Yeomans have it up at £174.99. I bet they can be had for £100 in November, don't think I can wait that long

You can find it for £150 online, and we picked ours up for £100 on ebay.

We also use it in the car. (or the old one we did) but we usually have a great distance 8 - 10 hours including getting to port and crossing.. (must try france one year! its so closer!!).....................(or the uk lol :))
