Hubbie has just bought the roof bars and is getting a roof box. I was thinking, now we will have more room, should I buy a camping wardrobe, or will he actually kill me

I take a Xsara Picasso with a decent-ish boot, a roof box and a trailer with high sides and its still a problem getting a weeks worth of gear in for 5 of us :(

Looking at more trailer mods and maybe (big maybe) swapping the car next year. I keep looking how I can trim down the amount of stuff, but we enjoy camping just the way we have it now and I don't really see why I should limit our enjoyment of camping.

I think some people enjoy what I would call basic camping and would say that was what camping was all about, then others prefer a few more luxuries (like me). My Son who is 18yrs old thinks I have lost the plot with all that I am taking (and really i am just starting off, not got all i want) but then he goes camping with just a tent and a sleeping bag! If your going for more than a day or two, then you need to be comfortable.

Sarah, very true.

I can go camping with just a rucksack on my back for the night on my own. However when I have the OH and 3 children with me (one of which is 6months old) we have to take a lot of stuff that seems luxury, but is a actually basic when a baby is part of our group. We do like to be comfortable, but we also like to get back to basics and play games (NO TV), our latest craze is having pub style quizzes in the evening. We managed to pick up a couple of quiz books for a £1 each and the kids think its great to see if Mum is cleverer than Dad

I agree re the TV, I think thats part of what appeals to me about camping. Having conversations not being sat in front of the goggle box, or computer, or playstation etc.

Yeh, agree.
Whilst we did take the PC on the last trip, it seemed like a chore to get it out and switched on. We really did only take it for downloading pictures from the camera.
