Has anyone else had problems with the HI GEAR ORLANDO CHAIR?

Postby darren on Tue Jul 27, 2010 12:50 pm

My wife and I purchased 2 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gear-Orlando-Portable-Camping-Chair/dp/B00279R3BG from go outdoors after 1 day of sitting the seam on the chair started to come apart and after 2 days the chair had ripped apart. We went back to Go Outdoors and as usual the service was second to none and we exchanged them over for another. However the same thing happened to the other one. I was just curious to ask if anyone else had experienced the same problem with these chairs and if so what did you replace them with?

Hi Darren,

Thanks for your post about the Orlando Chair.

The only issue i can see is that this must have been part of a bad batch of chairs. Personally ive owned a chair the same shape as the Orlando from another brand and i had a similar problem myself after a while.

These issues need to be pointed out though just in case it is a genuine design fault. This is the only way we can improve on a product after all.

I can only suggest taking it back to your local store, they wouldn't have any issues giving you a refund or a replacement chair.

I'll flag this issue up with our buyers, also if you think it is a genuine design fault you could leave a message at: http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/customer-services

That would be the best place to raise any issues that we may need to look further into.

Thank you for your comment though,

Brandon

I looked at these chairs in store and the seems had fallen apart on the Demo's so we didn't get them, might be the design where all the weight is being put on to those seems and they are just not holding. :?

Hi Brandon, yes I did take it back and they were fine about it. Its a shame because my wife and really like those chairs, it says it can take a maximum of 100kg - There is no way in the world that the chair would survive with this weight on it. I am 14st and that was enough for the stitching. I left a message on the go outdoors website.

I was thinking about picking up some kentucky chairs but it seems that other people (here) have had problems with those aswell, back to the drawing board.

We have a couple of the Quest Superlite Chairs and they are fantastic.

They are very strong, padded and recline. They are also the only chair i have had that does not dig in to the back of my thighs. £24.99 but worth every penny :D
