Hello, any other solo campers out there?

Postby LinKhyam on Sun Jun 27, 2010 8:41 pm

Hi - I'm Lin, a lady of a certain age (50's) who has re-discovered the delights of camping. This time around without the children!

Although I love them all dearly, there are times when it's nice to be grown up and not have to worry about the little darlings and their footballs - does anyone know of any good campsites that cater for adults?

I have a Khyam Freelander that is a bit luxurious for a solo camper but hey, I'm worth it :D

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Lin

PS: will load a pic when I can find one

Hi,
I'm not a solo camper, though one day i probably will be, i have 2 teenage daughters. This is the first year we have camped without their Dad & i'm pleased to say , i'm loving it ! :D
The only adult only site i know of is near Durdle Dor, but i can't remember the name, i think it's a CC site.
Happiness is packing your tent away dry & getting it back in the bag :-)

Hello Lin and a warm welcome to the forum.

Having 3 young children, an adult only site is but a dream  .

I did see one get a mention in last months Camping mag, I'll dig it out and check the name out for you.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Hello Lin

An Adults only , campsite ? . A very , very rare treat . as we have a nine year old .
But we did once manage to get a weekend at one for our wedding anniversary a few years ago , it was fantastic , really peaceful .

It was called the Larches caravan park ( takes tents too ) , ( North Cumbria ) ,has a little indoor swimming pool you can hire out for your self should you wish

The toilet block was one of the best we've ever seen on a campsite .

Keswick and the touristy places all within reasonable driving distance .

More details here ....

Thank you to everyone who offered some suggestions, I have now found a site that has several sites listed - UK Campsite/articles/view.asp?id=122 is the link for anyone else who might be interested.

Happy Camping!

Excellent, will you still be joining us for a chat on here when you have free time and sharing your camping experiences, Gillsy could do with some more female reinforcements

Oh yes - it's nice to know there are other people out there who enjoy camping too. And I'm not always wanting to camp away from children - just occasionally!

LinKhyam - PitchUp lets you filter your results to to sites that are adult only (as well as a whole load of other criteria)

Here's the adult-only sites it lists in East Anglia for example - http://www.pitchup.com/campsites/Englan ... lity=False
