It's my son that I'm proudest of. He comes with his bag full of toys/books/ipad and just gets on with it

Never complains, in fact quite the opposite, he can't wait to get out on a weekend. If I ask him mid-week "what do you want to do at the weekend?" his first answer is always "camping!"

He's always in the car before we have finished packing. He said to me on sunday after we all slept in 'til 9.00am - "I sleep loads better in my sleeping bag than I do at home"

He's now 10yrs old, so I think this summer, we'll be inviting a friend along to keep him company, we'll see how it goes.....
As long as you have plenty of things to do, the cold isn't really a problem, it's not like you're sitting round, chatting and passing the time of day like you would in spring/summer. If it was raining, that would be a different matter also

but I was watching the forecast all week and a 'high' was going to be in all weekend with little or no wind, sometimes you've just got to take a chance.

We don't usually take notice of the forecasts, but during the winter, every little helps!

Cheating or not N/G, at least you are out of the house and doing what you enjoy. I grew up with caravan holidays, at least 5 weeks a year plus weekends in between, so wouldn't knock them. But they are just not for me. I would never say never, if there ever was a reason why I couldn't get out in a tent then a caravan or motor home would certainly be my next option. My mother has a motor-home and I have an open invitation to use it whenever, maybe, some day......
I have a reasonably stressful job (especially at the moment!) as a Town Centre Manager, but I am never 'ready for a holiday' like most of my mates, as we get out and about so much. Most of my friends manage with two weeks in Costa Where-ever in the summer and maybe a dirty weekend in Blackpool, so by August they are knackered and ready to relax. I can't blame them, but again, it's not for me.
I wouldn't say that I'm anti-EHU, (although I am probably anti-TV!

)they're just not something I've ever seen a need for. When we started camping 20yrs ago (as a couple) we had very little money and camping was done fairly cheaply. And the thought of paying an extra £3.00 or so a night for hook-up never came into the equation! So everything we have bought over the years has been bought without the need for electric. Petrol lights for light and heat... petrol stoves to use in cold conditions.... feather sleeping bags..... often going 'with out' things for home, especially in the case of the sleeping bags.
Everyone has their own priorities and for me getting outside is mine. I enjoy camping and everything that it brings, so I don't see why I should only do it for only six months of the year, so we save up and buy the best gear we can that will allow us to do just that
Happy days.
