New bedroom layout

Postby thetentfactory on Wed Jan 11, 2012 11:00 am

I was interested to know what people thought to the new bedroom layout on the Outwell Louisiana 5p tent...I thought for families with older children, possible mixed sex kids this would be great.

Interesting.... I think its clear though that this tent will only appeal to those that have children that want to be alone rather than to share.. that said given that this is the only example like this it could prove to be a winer for them due to that fact.. as its the only option.

I quite like the layout, a big pod for the kids and a single pod for me, oh and the OH gets her own pod :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

Seriously though, its an interesting layout and for couples with two grown up kids (especially when they are opposite sexes). Its not quite right for us, but a good idea all the same.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

I think they are useful for people with kids who are wanting to take their friends with them too. There was an older style of tent that used this system many years ago and it was popular. Think it was before my time. I think it could work well. The only thing that put me off was how narrow the bedrooms were on the smaller version of the tent. Can still get camp beds and air beds into them though

is there enough room in there though if there is an airbed / campbed to get changed in though? as if i had a son or daughter i would expect them to have privacy for getting ready for bed / changed in the morning. Seems a good idea but i would personally want them wider to accomodate for this otherwise.
Just my view though......probably wrong

Good point, it looks literally like there is room for a bed only.

Hi
Great feedback, the 5p single bedrooms are about 220cm long and most air beds are about 190cm long so you get about 30cm (1x ft) at the end. The 7p has double bedrooms where the single ones are on the 5p so if you want to spoil the kids the 7p will be great. I think the 7p might be my tent for this season as I have a 12 yr old girl and a 15 yr old boy.

As a family camper, I actually like the fact that my kids can sleep in one section and me and the Wife in the other. Make for much more comfortable sleeping arrangements!

Our son, who is now 10yrs old, is using his own tent and has been for around two years now, unless we're out for a quick one-nighter.

Even on the main two-week holiday, he has his own set-up. :D When we first tried it, the missus was a little apprehensive. But I don't think he would have it any other way now, he loves having his own space. It gives him a little independence too. :) The dog is usually in there with him and has been found on several occasions buried in the bottom of his sleeping bag!! :D :D
Hilleberg Nammatj 3GT, Terra Nova Quasar, Cabanon Andorra & Calais, Outwell Trout Lake, Hi-Gear Ion 3 and hopefully a Field Candy 'Get a Room' coming soon!

Don't like it! Too inflexible. Awkward design. Not pleasing to the eye. Makes the living area feel restricted, ie too narrow. That "changing area" is largely dead space and single bedroom pods are not an efficient use of space.

I would have imagined that the target audience is too narrow to make this a big seller. After all, if you have a grumpy teenager that really wants to have their own space, or they have a friend staying, then let them have a pup tent next to the main one!!
