Campsites where you can have a Fire!

Postby camper fan on Mon Oct 10, 2011 6:18 pm

Sounds a bit daft, but with autumn here and winter looming we fancy camping for a weekend where we can have a fire, pref south west or south wales.

Is this still possible? I know most camp sites I visit now do not allow camp fires which is understandable but a bit sad.

We stayed at Caffyns Farm near Lynton in North Devon in the summer (well, the weather was actually more like autumn!).
It is known as Doone Valley Holidays.
It's a relaxed site that allows campfires. They have boxes of stones around the site so that you can create a proper fire ring and sell logs if you need them.

Put EX35 6JW into the Sat Nav to get there.

Lots of other places that allow fires listed on the bottom of the page here.

If the fire is just for heat and a focal point have you thought of a fire pit. I have also taken a bag of smokeless coal no one even knows it going.
