Hello!

Postby 3goglamping on Sun Jan 01, 2012 11:25 am

Hi,

Happy New Year everybody!

My name is Mel and have been camping for the last couple of years with my husband and daughter.
I can't resist buying equipment and gadgets to make the camping experience more of a home from home - hence the username!
There aren't enough weekends in the year.....

:D

Thanks guys.

Rob, i'm very jealous of your tent and was sorely tempted by similar in the sales.
Do you find it difficult to find sites with large enough pitches?

It would probably have only fitted on one of the pitches we have had over the last couple of years (Tollgate Farm, near Perranporth - great site).

Interested to read your reply.

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum :welcome:

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Hi
The Hartford is a big tent especially with the front canopy but really the only sites we have not been able to get on are the C&C club sites.
We always send the sizes when enquiring with a new site and they can usually sort somthing.
We have just booked up at Merley court and they have a 10m pitch so have put us on that one.

Have to admit to looking at other tents but nothing has the room of this tent and ithas stood up to some real batterings on shell island

We have just replaced our Icarus 500 canopy with an Icarus 500 extension (with a closing front), and I was intending to sell the canopy on e-bay, but now my OH has suggested that we keep both, and where the pitch allows, use the canopy on the end of the extension (which would pretty much make a 10m tunnel tent!) I was wondering about experimenting with using one or other on the side of the tent, but I don't think the shapes would marry up very well.
It can't hurt to try I suppose.

Hi nutgone,

I would love a Bell tent, and am familiar with Val's collection (from 'the other camping forum')!
We would definitely have to invest in a trailer or a small lorry to cart all the extras around with us (and the wood burner!), so for the time being, we will stick with what we've got (until I can convince the OH to invest in an XL of some description).
I will have a proper look at the blog now, and reignite my jealousy!.....

Thanks for the welcome,
Mel
