Hi Everyone

First of all I would like to say what a great forum this is, I have had a quick scan through and find myself learning more and more every day, I think that at any point if you find yourself nodding at the screen while reading people’s advice your on to a winner.

I’m and old school "kiddy" camper, used to pup tents while camping with parents (many many moons ago) and the good ol Boy Scouts, then moved into camping with my Wife (then girlfriend) and on our second trip to France got caught up in a huge storm and well to cut a long story short we slept in the car while a tree demolished the tent, after that we never went camping again....

And now we’re back.. woo hoo.. A couple of kids in Tow wanting to re-experience the joys I had as a kid waking up to the whistle of kettles and the smell of burnt bacon on the BBQ :) We took the plunge in a "grown-up" style, gone is the pup tent in is the Outwell Vermont XL, fantastic tent, but only been put up a couple of time in the garden so we know where it all goes :)

You soon forget how little gear you need, but how much gear you actually take with you :)
(* a big thank you to the creator of the checklist, it’s just what I’ve been looking for)

Anyhoo I’ll stop boring you all with my life story.
Thanks again for a great forum, I’ll try not to fill it up with too many, "what if's" or "can I" type questions..

Paul

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum.

We have the Vermont L and its a great tent, wished we had gone for the XL too.
Its a great tent, my advice with the Vermont is, don't bother with the bathtub ground sheet in the front awning, that way you can have the front rolled up and you don't worry about any rain coming in.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Great advice Wayne thanks, will keep that in mind although not planning on rain, but I'm sure the good ol British weather will have different plans :)

First trip is now booked and we are double checking everything, just can't wait for fairer weather to pitch the tent one last time before we go.. By looking at our lounge you would think we are off this weekend not June hehehe I keep promising to pack it all away and leave it away hehehe..

Hi & a very warm :welcome: to the forum.

It sounds like you'll be fine, I doubt you'll need to ask any questions at all.

It's surprising how quick it all comes flooding back to you.

Good luck to you & happy camping
