Where to avoid the Olympics this year

Postby Wayne on Sun Jan 08, 2012 7:05 pm

Can I start by saying that I'm really glad we hosting the Olympics in 2012 and I don't begrudge the amount of money that will be spent on it, I actually believe it will make more money for the country than it will cost.

However, its not of any interest to me at all and I will be planning my camp trips this year with care so I don't end up in busy area because of the Olympics.

So my question.

Will the Olympics be focused purely within London and between what dates, or will there be other areas between certain dates to be careful of.

My problem is crowds and queues, me and the OH can walk for hours over isolated hard going terrain without a crossword, but if we come into civilization and find ourselves in a tea shop with a queue 3 people deep we usually go to pieces and end up at each others throats, I kid you not :tune:

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Brilliant, thanks.

We were actually thinking of Weymouth, but I'll be giving it a wide berth this year

Good thread. This will prove invaluable to me & others, no doubt.

I can't stand the olympics, but I'm not going to get into all that. Just glad I can avoid any crowds.

Now if only I could work out a way for avoiding any interruption of my TV watching
(actually, I don't watch much TV, so hopefully it won't be too interrupted).
4 Canvas tents (various sizes)
3 Plastic tents (various sizes)
& 1 Tin tent (yes, I'm a turn-coat, but it has a canvas awning)
