Val reminded me the other day of the few good holidays we spent in a lightweight tent, That was 25 years ago in our caravan days but we also had tents and bought this little tent for tent only sites we used and liked.
I seem to remember it was called a Gelert 3 man with a small porch area, but in those days we used to walk all day and just sleep in the tent so size was not important, but it was the first time I experienced condensation and that damp feeling in the atmosphere inside the tent, We would cook in the open or under a fishing brolly if it rained, And for the last few years I believed we only used it once
But to me it was better than the little ABI Dawnstar and awning in rows of other little caravans
But now We are back in rows of caravans again,
What ever you do campers stay with the the tents as long as you can. There is no better feeling that been snuggled up in your warm sleeping bag listening to the rain beat down on canvas then to be woke up with the dawn chorus and the smell of Bacon drifting across the camp, and if you are lucky enough to be on a tent only site when you emerge from you tent all you see are the soft shapes of other tents flapping in the breeze in tune with the flowers ,long grass and the trees,
No life under canvas is something special and the tent campers also have to be, it soon sorts out the men from the boys after a year camping in the UK
Stay with the Tent
