BBC -

Postby CathP on Tue Sep 06, 2011 11:32 am

Hi there,
I'm working on a new cookery series for the BBC - I'm looking for families who really enjoy campfire/bonfire cooking, particularly traditional recipes! I'd be very keen to have a chat with you about the project.

I wondered whether anyone's got any advice about cooking bannock on a camp fire/bonfire? I'd be quite keen for us to do something a bit different, and it sounds lovely... please get in touch if you want any more info; best way to reach me is catherine.phillips@bbc.co.uk .

Many thanks!

I've put a Ray Mears video of him cooking Bannock in a post (it's 2nd from last video at the bottom of the post).

He does it in a cast iron frying pan. It looks less messy than on a stick, but I know my kids would love the stick method.

what about a damper, similar to bannock but cooked directly on the embers,

its seems to have a better flavour when made up with beer instead of water,
