Well it's about time. I was shocked to learn that this service was, until now, unavailable (something I only learned this year).

Well done Vango for jumping in there first. (& no I won't make any jokes about exploding Airbeams :rofl2: )

(I've actually got a bit of a soft spot for Vango, & I'm not big on "brands" really)
4 Canvas tents (various sizes)
3 Plastic tents (various sizes)
& 1 Tin tent (yes, I'm a turn-coat, but it has a canvas awning)

Agreed, its nice to see

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Hmmm, well yes, it's in the right direction but could lead to other disputes quote.....

"A deposit for the ‘’courtesy tent’’ will be taken when it is despatched and then refunded upon its return. Refunds will be processed immediately upon the return, less applicable servicing costs to cover any damages"

Now it's that last bit where i can see that issues may arise.
I understand deposits for potential damage are taken for many things on hire whether it be a car or power tools etc BUT the difference with those is that you return the goods in person and can discuss/debate any damage claim.
Difficult to do in this case as you've already sent the tent back and your money is refunded (less damage costs) which makes it extremely difficult to argue any case for damage and the return of the rest of (or all of) your deposit.

Cynical i may be but i can see this happening and would like to see how Vango are to handle these cases.

I saw this on OutdoorI, think its interesting and a good idea on Vango's part. Will be interesting to see if the other suppliers follow this. It will help to push Vango's brand and its a unique selling point too. Cuts the retailer out though to some extent.

I've always thought that this is something retailers should have been doing for a long time now. Why has no retailer picked up on this???

When someone buys a brand new tent & suspects a fault, they're contract is with the retailer, who then has to send the tent back for "testing". Surely a good retailer would keep hold of a couple of ex-demo tents, take a deposit & use them for this purpose. I would if I had a camping shop, that way my customers would be certain I had their best interests at heart & not just the lining of my own pockets.

I had a 3day old PC that packed up, and I took it back to PC World. I was told by the manager that they had 30 days to try and repair it before he had to offer me a replacement. Whats the law surrounding tents that are not fit for purpose
