Cabanon vs Icarus 500 ?

Postby delart on Wed Oct 05, 2011 11:08 am

Well after trying my "new" Cabanon Julie :D the weekend can't help thinking that the 2011 Vango icarus 500 is reduntant  after one use, so what do you think keep it as a back up or sell it on? Just can't see why I would choose to leave the Cabanon at home and take the vango?Any avice appreciated.

The only reason I can see for keeping the Icarus, is for when relatives ask if they can borrow your Cabanon. You can say "NO! But you can borrow the Icarus".

Yeah i agree . I dread the day someone asks to borrow one of my tents, that's why i've kept my old Argos one.
Happiness is packing your tent away dry & getting it back in the bag :-)

I agree, hold on to it.

I have a pile of tents, but my Icarus is a good general purpose, bang it up in 15 minutes one. My parents used it beside me last year when I took one of my really old tents (I like vintage tents) and they loved it even though they're confirmed caravanners. The head height throughout suited them and combined with double height airbeds they were more than happy. I have recently got the Quechua Base Seconds 4.2 and had the same thought...this new tent makes the Icarus redundant. But not really, because if it's raining and I'm stuck inside I'd rather have the head height, the space and of course the enclosed canopy to use as a wet wellie room.

Well think I will probably move the Vango on after trying the Cabanon properly at Shell at the end of the month if the snow that's forecast isn't as bad as they say or doesn't arrive
