Gas Hose

Postby macgfamily on Sat Oct 01, 2011 5:19 pm

Having solved the quick release gas hose coupling questions (see other topic - thanks), was then getting it all hooked up using some hose that came with Camping Gaz stove and some we got at Go Outdoors. (But don't know which was which....)

It was immediately clear the hoses were different: one had a very nice rubbery outer, slightly paler orange whereas the other had a very hard plastic, more orange outer (marked as being manufactured by ChuanHseng).

I gave up on the second one and cut the softer one in two to form the two parts of my quick release coupling set up.
The second one was both horrible to try and grip but more importantly the outer was hard plastic and the jubilee clips just did not really bite in to it to secure it.

So, what's normal for 8mm gas hose?

cheers

I think you get what you pay for. They are possibly both correct but one is better quality than the other.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Ive only ever seen the black hose (low pressure) and the rubber coated orange (high pressure) either will work on camp stove, as for the plastic coated stuff it sounds like an item to stay away from, and ive noticed that some hose Clips or jubilee clips seem to be poorly made also, probably more cheap imports from the far east.. like Wayne said, you only get what you pay for, but I didn't think that Go would be selling such low quality hose..
Camping is an addiction, and YOU will become addicted...
