We go away with our relatives who have a caravan and I have to say we have loads more room in our (admittedly large) tent than they do in their average sized caravan.

Which Outwell are you looking at?

The most important thing to get right is the sleeping arrangements, make sure you are warm and comfy in your beds which I'm afraid is a bit of a personal choice, we've got Fat Airic self-inflating mats others prefer camp beds or Aerobeds. Most will admit though that cheap airbeds from Argos are not the way to go.

Anyway welcome to the fold and happy camping :-)

Welcome to the forum pogue

As above i think that tents give you more space and as long as you get the best you can you should have a great experience.
Check out the reviews sections for tents and equipment and go to your local stores and see the equipment you wantpacked and unpacked.
We are hoping to have a get together in september so check out the campingforum campout topic. :)

Happy camping and if there is anything you want to know just post it. :D

Hita Pogue
The montana is a cracking tent as are all outwells
Also have a look at the Florida .....
It is a little more expensive but the layout is different and that front canopy is great for sitting out or cooking.
Only a suggestion mate as a friend of mine has the Florida 6 with canopy and states it is the best tent he has ever had.

I was going to say that the advantage the montana has is the option for the front awning we said last year with the extension on the trout lake it would be nice to have some form of a front to put on it.. however just looking on outwell's website both the monty and the florida have a front awning option..

my sister-in-law and family have a montana 6 it's great, nice and roomy inside and easy to put up. the little side porch is useful for wet shoes and coats too.

they've just bought a front extension for it.

whichever you buy it's well worth getting the footprint and the carpet for it too. the footprint keeps the bottom of the tent clean very useful if it has a sewn in groundsheet (a good thing to have to keep out the drafts) the carpet makes the inside of the tent a lot warmer under foot, important when you get up first thing in the morning and nice when your sheltering from the rain.
