backing a tent carpet with emergency blankets??

Postby wilderness warrior on Fri Sep 09, 2011 11:49 am

hi all,

heres a thought thats been in my mind for some time now, i have been thinking of more ground insulation and came up with this idea of sewing those cheap emergency blankets to the back of my tent carpet in the hope that it would give extra warmth to my tent. i only use an old heavyweight blanket as a carpet at the moment and my thoughts were to sew a tarp to the back but to sandwich the emergency bankets in between.
has anyone ever tried this or have any views or drawbacks that i have not thought of?
any views and opinions would be great before i get the sewing machine out....

many thanks
martin.

We jut bought an emergency blanket to go under an aired for oh's little tent, but haven't tried it yet. It should insulate a bit I think.

yeah i bought one for the same reasons, tried it out two weeks ago at shell and it worked a treat with no condensation on the air bed at all in the mornings which got me thinking about backing the carpet with them saving a bit of luggage space when packed up all together.

many thanks
