the GREAT british weather.......

well whaddaya reckon boys an girls?? latest the met says is theres weeks of windy wet stormy weather ahead, followed straight away by a white winter starting in oct/nov????????? :uhoh:
Will we take any notice of this latest pile of ********* or what...
only asked cos we are off to cornwall at the end of the month, for our annual jaunt..and im under pressure to book a tin tent( although i will resist!!!!) :tune:
it is making me wonder though, normally we have some smashing weather in sept/oct,but this year the signs are a bit wierd, the summer set in early way back in april, and even feb an march were bloody good months,it all went a bit wishy washy last month and simply hasnt recovered.....so for once im thinking maybe autumn has come early and is gonna be a poor one
the jet stream has dropped south and unless it pushes back oop north soon then thats that for this year for the weather, which will be a shame really...
what do you think? has this year been good or bad???????

August has been a wash out for many years now (well up North at least).

Sept/Oct are usually nice months but we always get a couple of weeks of wet & windy weather as soon as they switch on the Blackpool Illuminations (which happened to be last Friday!!).

I don't believe anything the Weather men tell us now as half the time they can't predict 3 days in advance never mind 3 weeks.

.....and i'm not sure they are all sober as take this morning "Showers in the North will cease to give way to longer spells of rain" .......... what kind of forecast is that? :? ..... it's either raining from showers or raining persistently NOT showers ceasing to allow persistent rain!!!........... or maybe it's just me :bang:

Well you Brits are not alone as the summer here in southern Germany has been an unmitigated disaster. The wife and I clocked up a few thousand kilometres on our motorbikes during March/April which was a first as the snow and salt doesn't usually clear until the end of March. We first pitched the tent during the back end of April - also another first. After that it's all been downhill.........rain and 10 degs C one day, bright and sunny and 28 degs the next with a repeating pattern. Several crops have not produced enough yield creating shortages, and several open air pools have gone out of business due to lack of bathers.
Unlike Rambo, I believe everything the weather forecaster tells me. She's drop dead gorgeous, long blonde hair with sparkling blue eyes. In fact, if she told me that tomorrow it was going to rain cats and dogs I'd take her literally and keep one eye on the pooch. :-)

Weather in the Netherlands was rubbish this August too.
Considered packing away tent & driving south until we hit the Cote d'Azur but then Mrs reminded me how much I suffered in the heat a couple of years ago.
So we stayed put at least it meant we explored the area more we planned as we were meant to have a beach holiday.

Had a lovely week back in May in a cottage in Normandy.

No more holiday until October half term so until then I don't care what weather doing until then.

I think the weather this year has been utter cráp.

We had that lovely spell around April & ever since the most we've had has been 3 or 4 days, of sunshine, in a row. If we're lucky!
& this wind!!! It just hasn't stopped, all "summer"! I've never known a year to be so windy & a summer to be so cool & wet!

There's no question, I'm not gambling again next year; it's off to France again for me in 2012, just like last year (& it'll get me away from the bloody boring olympics :bang: ). I wish I'd saved a little more when I had the chance & gone there again this year :( (but I never knew I was going to lose my job until 3 days before)

I've enjoyed this forum though, I think finding it has been one of the "camping" highlights of my season :bigwink:
4 Canvas tents (various sizes)
3 Plastic tents (various sizes)
& 1 Tin tent (yes, I'm a turn-coat, but it has a canvas awning)

My other passion;
My 1983 BMW 525e

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...
