Canoe hire in the lakes. Any good places??

Postby badger on Wed Aug 31, 2011 11:52 am

Before winter fully arrives I am thinking of a ride upto the Lake District and spend a few days touring/camping. I have always fancied hiring a canoe and exploring the lakes that way; Has anyone done this before??? I check the net in a bit but 1st hand accounts would be very helpful

I few years ago we used to take my mates canoe and camp at Coniston Hall which is right on the edge of Coniston Water (although the campsite can be very very noisey) but you could hire canoes further up the Lake towards Coniston village. Not been that way for about 3 or 4 years so not sure if the hire place is still there.
