Top 5 Tent Accessories

General advice and questions on any accessories

I got a nice coffee percolator from a charity shop for 75p. You see the old Sona & Swan Brand ones on ebay all the time, no need to pay much over a fiver for one.

I simply refuse to drink instant, it isn't even coffee in my book. I've got a cafetiere mug & a small stove top espresso maker, but these are no good if I have visitors, so I let it be known I was looking for a stove top percolator & my sister (a fan of charity shops) found me one.

Must say, I do like the look of the enamelled ones, but really can't justify the expense at the moment.

Will have to think about my top 5,

& In-a-tent, how can you say it aint "real" camping without a whistling kettle, then go on to put an EHU in your list? :roll: (I dunno)

:lol: :lol: :lol:
4 Canvas tents (various sizes)
3 Plastic tents (various sizes)
& 1 Tin tent (yes, I'm a turn-coat, but it has a canvas awning)

My other passion;
My 1983 BMW 525e

OK, here goes:

In no particular order;
* Collapsible washing-up bowl (will fit under any tap, to get hot water, & fits nicely in any, or indeed no, sink)
* Coleman 424 duel fuel, double burner stove (boils kettle faster than any gas stove, & runs on petrol, like my car, so I don't have to worry about forgetting to buy gas cannisters. These cookers do not suit everybody though, they are a very acquired taste & I totally understand why lots of people don't like them)
* Argos LED tent lights, with a switch on the end of the wire (really handy little lights, which strap round poles or through loops with velcro, so they stay where you put them, they can't be your only source of light though, so not like a miracle light or anything)
* Coffee maker of some description (weather it be my cafetiere mug, my stove-top espresso percolator or my traditional stove-top ordinary percolator, I MUST have real coffee in the morning!)
* Big green holdalls from Bristol market (basically large zipped holdalls, I have 2 of them, one contains ALL my cooking, eating & serving stuff (& I mean ALL of it!) the other contains all my torches, leads, pegs etc. etc. I still have a few bits stored in a medium sized plastic trug type bucket, but if I have these 2 holdalls & my tent (plus cooker, food & bedding, obviously) then I know I haven't forgotten ANY of the essentials).

That was much harder than I thought, hard to come up with any at the beginning, then once I started, it was hard to narrow it down to five!

1 Has to be taken on EVERY camping trip, nothing beats fresh brewed coffee, esp first thing in a morning

2 This is ideal for open fire cooking, just a bit of luxury really for the open fire

3 These are great to have, they work on gas, and open fire I use mine with the no2 on my list, brilliant for cooking anything that's needs to be fried, even use mine at home at times.

4 I love these lamps, have to be the best lamps in the world, bomb proof, last for years, (just i have to use a dual fuel by coleman, I haven't bought this version yet).. This is on my to buy list.....

5 And finally a decent sharp knife, I thought about buying this one, but I'm undecided, I'm more for carbon steel blades than stainless steel ones, but who knows..

That's my 5 for now, not very exciting are they lol

...3) Cotech Cordless Lantern - http://www.clasohlson.co.uk/Product/Pro ... =156005194 - This is billed as an inspection lamp for DIY use rather than for camping and consequently its a good deal cheaper! Gives a fantastic spread of light, lasts for ages off a single charge and comes with both mains and 12v chargers included. Because its meant for DIY its also good and sturdy with a rubberised casing that makes it resistant to bumps and scrapes. I've tried my very best to break it but its still standing....

Just took delivery of two of these on your recommendation, look really good, solidly built and very bright

Looking forward to a test drive next weekend, thanks for the tip :cool:
