The 50 best campsites!!

Postby Former Scout on Sun Jul 10, 2011 7:04 pm

The Independent newspaper has a daily "10 Best" for a whole range of things (a few weeks back they had "10 Best Tents which was extremely questionable) and a weekly "50 Best". Yesterdays supposed best fifty were campsites.

Now I'm not so egotistical to think that my favourites should be on everyone else's list, but out of all the sites I've camped at only one makes their list and although good it is far from being the best I've been to.

Does anyone have more luck?

Only one for me also! Ardgarten, near Loch Lomond.

Only went once and due to the site having no drainage (common practice with Forestry Commission sites) we had to give up after a couple of days due to the tent standing in a foot of water. As we had booked for a week we had to write to head office for a refund - which we didn't get.

There's a few on there that I would like to try though.......... :D :D
Hilleberg Nammatj 3GT, Terra Nova Quasar, Cabanon Andorra & Calais, Outwell Trout Lake, Hi-Gear Ion 3 and hopefully a Field Candy 'Get a Room' coming soon!

What no Haven?? :o

Not stayed at any of those but there is one that's about 7 miles from me and one I know very well as I use the lakes there. I really would not have said it was one of the top 50 campsites in Lincolnshire, let alone in the UK.

Same here :|

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...
