Newbie from Holland

Postby Kat on Thu Jun 23, 2011 1:02 am

Hi!

My name is Kat. I'm a 32 y/o woman from Holland, married and mom to 2 girls. I'm a bit biased but we are a really great and cool little family

Before we had kids we loved to go camping, when the oldest was born (4 years ago) my husband was afraid it was too much of a hassle and I just could not convince him it was all in his mind. But, a couple of weeks ago we went on a spontaneous trip to France (planned as a surprise by me, oh yes) and it was wonderful, he thought so too!

So, fun and cool as we are, we searched for a (bell)tent and are an a hunt for new campinggear. We are having fun already

Next week we are going on a 5 day trip. I did not find a campsite that I like yet, may be I can find some tips on this forum (max. 800km from Rotterdam, approx).
I love camping in the UK but for only 5 days...I don't know. I sure hope we can go for a longer trip to the UK later on this year, I have great memories about camping in (esp.) Devon and Cornwall.

Anyway, I couldn't find a dutch campforum that seemed even slightly alive (but may be there is?) and this one seems really fun, so here I am. To get my campfire started allover again!

Love,
Kat.

welkom Kat

we too have young children, now 6 and 4. Early camp trips about 2 years ago were hard work (yougnest 2), last year was good and this year we are all very excited to go camping - it just seems to get easier and more fun. Best piece of kit we ever got for camping with the kids was a proper camping toilet

guess you already know about Obelink (and all the other great Dutch camping shops) you folks have such great choice over there when it comes to gear

we keep looking at camping in Holland as so many of the sites are right on the beach but it is a long journey for us

as to Dutch Forums there is probably only the DeWaard one that is active, and that is a bit biased. There is a French one that is quite good http://camping.forum-actif.eu/f3-tentes but we Brits seem to like our forums

Welcome to the forum.
Here's a suggestion for France, Google Maps says it's 480km from Rotterdam.
We stayed here in 2007.

We might be going to Netherlands this summer.
I've cancelled our plans for Austria as money is tight & it's too far away , petrol costs so much now.

I've got my eye on a couple of Dutch campsites.
Wondered if you ever been to them?

Hello and a warm welcome to the forum :welcome:

Sorry for the late hello, but been away and quite busy before my holidays.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...
