First time camper looking for advice

Postby xxbazzaxx on Tue Apr 05, 2011 6:01 pm

Hi All, i hope someone would be kind enough to point us in the right direction. We are first time campers - We have done the Haven sites in the UK and had some great times, but now we have taken to canvas and hope it start getting out and about. We are a family of 4, 2 boys aged 12 & 5 and we want to go to France this summer. As it is our first time we are thinking somewhere easy to get to (ie not far from Calais or an easy drive from Calais). AS its our lads first time camping we need somewhere quite busy, maybe a large campsite with plenty to do and nice facilities (dont want to put them off trip1 haha). If someone would be kind enough to point us in the right direction we would be really greatful.
Bet Wishes

Hi,

Not really camped in france sorry. tend to travel through it though... so can tell you to avoid toll roads if possible can be very costly if your on a long journy.

I did do a a quick google map search and found the following.

http://www.campingleperroquet.com/accueil-en.htm

not far from Calais but good location with easy access for Dunkerque or the amazing Ghent in Belgium :)

Hello and a warm welcome to the forum :welcome:

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Here's a thread about a site we used in 2007.

It's 145 miles from Calais, I don't think that's far but we go across the Channel alot.

We visited Brittany last summer, Les Mouttes campsite is lovely...

A fairly long but straight forward drive from Calais.
