Cotswolds

Postby texturner on Sun Apr 17, 2011 8:11 pm

Hi
We are planing to go to the Cotswolds 16th May for 5-6 days
We want a campsite not to far from places to visit,I am scared of being miles from anywhere.
We are not too fussy but like visiting quaint little towns villages, love sight seeing
So if anyone can help with a few ideas,or anyone knows of some quaint villages/towns and then I can search for a site from there.
Hope you can help
Thanks
Tex

Hi Tex,

Not stayed there myself BUT if i was considering it then i'd probably give this campsite a go http://www.cotswoldview.co.uk/ as it sounds idyllic, peace and quiet of the countryside but close enough to civilisation and attractions.

Hi Tex and a warm welcome to the forum.

I've never stayed in the Cotswold either but looks like Pete has dug a good site out.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Hi Tex,

Well living locally I can say that the site that CamperPete has suggested is cracking and well located for a base to venture out from. Charlbury is only a stones throw away which is a smallish village with local shops and a few good pubs to fuel your needs in the evenings. Woodstock is only a few miles down the road, lovely village to wander around and of coarse you have Blenhiem Palace there. To the west of the site and within 20 minutes drive you have Burford which is known as the gateway to the cotswolds and is a nice town to spend an afternoon. To the north you have Chipping Norton and Morton in the Marsh and then there is Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold, all towns and villages are within lets say 30 minutes drive of Cotswoldview. I would say that Snowshill and Broadway are also well worth a visit as they have some great places of interest and if you feel like spoiling yourself a spot of lunch at the Lygon Arms in Broadway is a must. Chipping Campden is said to be the most picturesque of all the villages within the Cotswolds and as such again well worth the extra few miles.

I would suggest that this site is a good place to start for ideas and direction but if you need any further help or ideas for a village that perhaps are not listed then drop me a PM with where you are planning to visit and I will see what I can suggest. For example the arboretum and birds of pray centre just outside Morton is well worth a visit.

Enjoy and welcome to the site :welcome:
