Etiquette in Netherlands

Postby amorphous on Mon Apr 25, 2011 6:29 pm

Hi all....

A newby looking for some advice...

I am going to be on a cycling/camping trip around the Netherlands next month.
As a hardcore 'wild-camper', I have never been to an organised campsite in my life, and I have no idea what to do.

When you arrive at a campsite, is it the done thing to stick up your tent and settle in...or do you need to first seek out the owner, and be assigned a pitch?

Do you pay up front, or before you leave?

Welcome to the Forum

as others have said, check into reception first and then you will be allocated your pitch, If you are cycling then lookout for signs for mini camping, these tend to be small fields that farmers turn in to campsites for the summer and can be a lot cheaper.

Where do you intend cycling from and to??

what sort of campsites do you intend to stay at??

It is possible to cycle from Amsterdam in the south west up to Assen in the north east without leaving a cycle path.

I think your question seems to have been pretty well answered, so it just remains for me to say a very warm welcome to the forum. :welcome:

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...
