I am a bit of a tent peg groupee and have all manner of tent pegs in my tent peg bag(s)
Rock pegs and all sorts of V's tend to be my preference and (along with a lot of variants, including some 18" sand pegs!) I was fairly happy with the kit I had and its ability to cope with most things
Then in 2010 I won a bunch of plastic Deltas and reckon they are a great addition to my peg bag. Being a little biased against plastic pegs (cheap ones bend, go brittle etc) I had to swallow my pride and admit these are good
An example of how useful they can be - camping in July 2010 we were hit by a nasty storm of gales and heavy rain. We were in a Dutch Pyramid (Dutch call them storm tents) so felt pretty secure. It was hard to pitch bum to the wind so we were getting a bit battered when the wind break actually got torn out of the ground - the soil was getting really soft with the rain, but being a bit rocky it was proving difficult to get the big V pegs in deep enough. Out came the Deltas and we were sorted, being short they didnt get so troubled by rocks, being broad they gripped soft ground well, being plastic seemed to give them a little bit of give too. We might have survived that night unscathed without the Deltas (many didnt) but I am really glad we had them
