Yey......I've done it!!!!!

Postby janeypoos on Fri Sep 03, 2010 6:00 pm

After what seems like weeks (ok, all this week!) of research, surfing, brain-picking (of you lovely members) I have finally ordered my tent!

I got the Tigris 400 dlx tent, footprint and carpet from World of Tents for a total of £239.30 which included a multi-buy discount of £13.40 and a 5% discount from voucher code 365odw, I'm so pleased now.

I was also tipped off about the extension so I now know where I can get one once I've got the tent, I'll have a practise pitch of the tent (weather permitting) and then see if we definitely need the extension or not.

Just ordered a kitchen stand from Towsure as well and I'm waiting on 2 new windbreaks being delivered so next week I anticipate I will mostly be waiting in for the deliveries to arrive...................

A big thank you to everyone who has offered advise/help/information this past week, it really was invaluable.

Cheers guys!

Until this week I hadn't realised that there's a severe lack of camping shops in Essex. I feel cheated that I can't just nip out for half hour to browse (and buy, no doubt) something camping related. :(

Lol! I suppose you're right, if we did have one it would only mean the son and the dog would have to starve so we could have off the floor beds instead of inflatables and yet another folding table to add the the collection. :bigwink:

There are 3 big camping shops in South Essex reasonably close to each other, you could make a day of it and visit all 3.
Head down the A130 onto Canvey Island and you'll find Camping & General, a massive store, then London bound along the A13 to Pitsea and you'll find Go Outdoors next to Tesco Extra then up through Basildon to the A127, Southend bound and Allweathers is at the back of Summerhills Garden Centre, park in Summerhills.

Don't blame me if you spend too much money though. :D

Unfortunately I have a rather crippling phobia of driving on dual carriageways and motorways so I am really limited as to where I will drive. That's why we go to Mersea all the time because it's within my comfort zone. :(

It's a shame about your phobia, Camping and General is well worth a visit.

If you know of any I've missed let me know and I'll add them.

going to add Trek And Field next I think although they're not so much camping so not sure if I should give 'em a miss, also they don't have an easy means to get a list of their shops from their website.

Andy, do you want just chains or independents too.

I have a couple of local places that I can supply details for.
