Hi there & a very warm :welcome: to the forum.

You'll find this is a great place to be for helpful, friendly advice, from friendly people, with no "forum-politics" either.

Thanks all, I'll pick people's brains in the forum over the coming weeks, deliberating over which tent to buy first :-)

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum.

I really hope you deliver for your son

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

We'll help in any way we can with the advice, and don't forget we have a meet once a year, the kids all love it and soon make friends.

Check the Campout here

Hello and welcome.

That's good advice from Camp Moose. When I was a kid I often slept in my own tent in the garden (as well as with the Cubs and Scouts) with my mother bringing me breakfast in the tent in the morning. So when my eldest was about 4 or 5 I bought an inexpensive 2/3 berth tent and we camped in the garden. He was quite apprehensive at first, but as soon as he was in the tent and snuggled in his sleeping bag he looked up at me with a big grin on his face and said, "This is great!" He's camped at least twice a year ever since. He's 15 now and I was concerned he'd be "growing out of it" but he still wants to come as does his younger brother.

Unfortunately, the kids are away with their mom then, but may persuade the gf to come along

We did borrow 'grannies' tent a couple of years ago and spent 3 nights camped out in the garden, we'd still be there now if he had his way
