Hi I'm a newbe

Postby Chris mould on Tue Aug 30, 2011 11:23 am

Morning campers !!! Hi I'm Chris and my family and I started camping last year with a cheap eBay tent, but now have decided to take the plunge and start looking for a new tent to start new season with. We have been looking for an outwell tent but not sure which model to choose. We are looking to do a main 2 week holiday but also something easy enough for my wife and kids to take away for weekends. Any help is greatly appreciated and we can never have enough advise ! So please don't be shy and give me your thoughts positive and negative. Many thanks Chris

Welcome to the forum.
We're a family of 5 & fit quite nicely into our Outwell Nevada L.
We bought one of those as it was an updated version of our old Licata.
I've posted a few of pics of it in the Gallery.
Therefore I'd suggest one of those.
I'm sure other members will suggest something else.
:)
Happy camping.

Thanks camp moose. Sorry forgot to say that my son is autisic so three bed rooms are a must as his sleeping is not great and he can't share rooms as he will have my daughter up all night. I've been looking at the Tennessee 6 but I'm worried if it will be too big for a weekend trip

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum.

The Tennessee 6 is a nice tent, but your quite right its a big machine to set up for the weekend. I have always found I need a minimum of 2 tents one for week camps where I like to take more stuff and a smaller one for weekends where I don't need as much gear. We have a Outwell Vermont L (but the XL has 3 bedrooms) for week camps. I feel reassured with the steel poles when far from home. For weekend camping you could consider a cheaper tent with fibreglass poles (easier for your wife to manage as its lighter). The Vango Tigris 600 with three bedrooms is a good choice. I also agree with camp Moose the Nevada L is a cracking tent.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Lots of tents to choose from !!!! Think it's back to the drawing board and look at all the suggested tents :)
