Right so the first thing i ticked off the other week was the bolting of the hinges.
With this done i could now sort out the seal. The problem was that with there being 2 lids there is a join in the middle, this is the weak spot with respect to keeping the trailer dry. By putting runs of silicone sealant on the mateing surfaces and letting it dry i had created seals that would seal when the lids were shut.

Las year however highlited a problem ....... when you open a lid and it has been raining ...... it poured in :(
So to overcome this problem i have got a strip of leather and siliconed this over the hinge section with 2 aluminium strips screwed down to hold the edges.

Hopefully this will do the trick

So what's next ........
Some brackets to help strengthen the lids.
A bracket for the flag pole.
A coat of paint ready for the summer

If the leather Idea works, then great, but using your idea, and considering the size of your garage, what about using a strip of the plastic dividers/doors that some industrial units have same idea, just a different item being used.

I have got a strip of that on the back

But it is to thick and stiff as it will have to bend when a lid is opened.

Hopefully the leather will do the trick
