I had to think of a way to stop water getting through the join in the lid so i came up with this heath robinson idea of using silicone sealant on one surface and letting it set to make a kind of rubber seal
1344
When the lid shuts it should compress the silicone and create a seal :?
I will do the other side today and then test it tomorrow with the jetwash.

Also managed to fit the support brackets to give a little extra strength and the lock.

Wow it's really coming on.

It has made me think about putting a solid lid on our erde trailer but doubt I'll get around to it tbh.

I have realized though that with a solid lid and a leg/wheel on the drawbar (so the trailer is level) would give us a solid flat surface about 1m high, which would be a good height for a camp kitchen. Also given the trailer has a drop rear side, it would give a shelf underneath - I've not explained that very well and I'll never get around to it but I thought I'd share :-)

I think you explained that perfectly to be honest!

Dont use a trailer myself.. but can see how a modification like that could be so usefull.. especially if you have a couple of points to drop in two poles so you take a tarp over it and beyond. windbreak on the windy side and you have a perfect kitchen area :)

Oh my god thats put more ideas floating around my head now

I had to find a way to finish the back but still alow the back door to open.
Answer... Cut up the warehouse doors and make a flap

1346
This can be tied down when running but alow the back door to be opened with the lid shut
1347

No no more the only thing i have to work out is how to fix the bikes on top. :?

A few mpre pics of the packed finished trailer.
1348
I have now added a few holes in the flap shown and an elastic cord used to tie it down
1349
1350
This is where i want the main bike to sit with the 2 smaller ones either side.
1351
I will be getting the hooks and straps the weekend. :D

Could you not get a roof style bike mount and then adapt it to fit on the trailer?

Have to admit that was my first thought but with the little ones bike (only 3 years old) being so small and the four year olds not being much bigger and then the seven year olds big bike i thought a system that would grow with them would be better so
1352
I will fit 2 hooks for the handle bars to hook in to and 2 eye bolts at the back to put a ratchet strap on so pulling the bike down and back locking it in to the hooks.

Hope it works :?

Mate looking at the pics you'v added I can see this vision in 200,000 years from now advanced humans scratching their robotic nano bot fusion enhanced heads trying to work out what it is their ancestors had built thousands of years ago.

Its been built to last :)

(robotic nano bot fusion enhanced heads) dont ask me what this is or what advantage it would provide? i dont have a clue but it sounds cool
