Pet Dog information

Postby rexgrant on Sun Oct 30, 2011 4:44 pm

Hi all
Val and I have been considering getting a small pet dog,we have seen an 8 month old Yorkshire Terrier bitch for sale here is what they say about it
:-(8 month old Yorkshire Terrier Bitch for sale. Very loving and playful. Fully vaccinated and house trained, Loves lots of attention and going for walks. Shes been brought around small children and other animals and has a lovely temperament.)
My only previous experience with dogs go back to my shooting days with springer's and Labrador X golden retriever.
can anyone think of any reason this dog will not be suitable as a pet for Val.
Regards
Rex.

Hi Rex

I'm new to this forum so I don't know what type of pet dog is Val looking for, but generally yorkshire terriers make great pets. They are, like all terriers, rather active, but that should be no problem with you being an active camper!

I would personally go for a younger dog (8 weeks or so) to be able to train it myself from a very young age, but on the other hand getting a "teenage" dog will save you the hassle of house training etc.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

Make sure you get it insured Rex. My mum has all her pets insured & it has saved her a fortune this year (& in the past).

I think she uses Tesco pet insurance, but will have to double check that for you. My advice would be to shop around. Her pedigree rag-doll cat got hit on the main road & sadly killed a couple of months ago, she recently received a cheque for the original purchase of the cat (minus the excess, obviously) from the insurance company. I never knew they even covered that! I thought it was just vet bills etc.
4 Canvas tents (various sizes)
3 Plastic tents (various sizes)
& 1 Tin tent (yes, I'm a turn-coat, but it has a canvas awning)

My other passion;

I'm sure you are going to have plenty of fun with your new family member!
Did I mention that even though it is Val's puppy, you will be the one who takes it for walks when it rains :bigwink:

Pet Dog information

Our Westie is a year old on firework night. If you get even half the enjoyment out of your new dog, that we have out of ours, then you will be lucky people.

Ours sleeps on a cage every night, with a cover over the top, so that it is very dark when it sleeps... Never had a peep out of her... Enjoy!

Hi all
Still awaiting his training crate at the moment he as the run of the kitchen and spends lounge play time with Val until he tires.
My job is taking him out to a small run every hour or if we notice he may be starting to do he does is business,he only stays out for ten minutes, but I take him out after every meal and we stay out until he goes, and it is working fine we are getting the odd mess first thing in the morning that should improve with crating We hope   But he as already made is mark on our slowly deteriorating existence :rofl2:
I said to Val today most dog owner go to camp because they have dogs but we got our dog to go to camp with us
when you reach that three score years and ten it is sometime hard to convince yourself to go for a walk, but now that will all change ,it will certainly make my GP smile :D
Regards
Rex.
