Have never seen so many daddy long legs as on the tent this morning.

In Worcestershire there have been a few crane flies around but in Devon recently there were loads, damn things inside the tent.

Spiders are having a bit of a field day though, in fact I've noticed a big increase in insects in general this year.

Can someone tell me what the difference is between an Administrator & a Moderator?

Btw, us normal folk are feeling a bit out numbered. ;)

I can only delete or edit threads in the 'europe' subforum.
I can't do anything anywhere else.
Tad frustrating when all I can do to the spammers in other areas is report a post by clicking the ! button like anyone else.
Only Admin can ban them.

Just too take another look on it, this is from my prospective.

Originally there was Andy and the forum was quite small, as numbers grew a little in the early days Rob quickly became a Mod to help out. At this time i was on and off the forum as life was quite full. As things settled down and I had more time to commit, Andy asked me to become a Mod to help out.
Before becoming a Mod I enjoying reading the threads that I found interesting and commenting (often in detail) on things of interest and what I felt I had a little knowledge about. It soon became apparent as a Mod that this attitude had to take a back seat and I found that by the time I had just read through the whole forum it was later at night and I was too tired to comment on anything. Rob was finding the same thing and like me, he was trying to read the whole forum. Maybe we should have split the forum, but we were/are still green and learning.
Notice I exclude Andy, who is really the Chief Admin, he is often busy in the background sorting things out that we take for granted. Some might be surprised to know that there is an identical forum to this that mirrors it and is actually just a test bed, this is where changes are often first tested, its not exactly an accessible working forum like this but all the same its there.

For instance there was a lot of work went into making the linking for the above to In A Tent possible and both Andy's spent awhile trying to get it to work right.

Anyway, as things were getting heavy, Andy had an idea to eventually have a Moderator for each section. The idea was that he didn't want any one person to suddenly be loaded down with too much work, after all its there free time they are giving and we didn't want there enjoyment of the forum suffering too much. we all agreed that if we had a Mod to each section where they only had power over that area it would also stop Mods conflicting and stepping on each others toes as well as them being able to go into another section and just enjoy chatting etc.
So it may look like too many chiefs and not enough Indians, but if you study the index page, you'll see there is actually only ever one Mod for a section.

There are 3 Admins, but we don't read through the whole forum Moderating any more as there is other stuff to do. For instance last night i identified a spammer who has registered under 3 different names and is currently chatting with him/herself and keeps linking to the same place, I haven't deleted it yet as I alerted Rob and Andy to take a look as its quite funny and cheeky, but it'll be gone soon 8-) .
Andy is really busy oiling the gears to keep the forum running and current, so doesn't actually out front as much as he would like. I currently need to sort out the thread "sites for under a tenner" which I've been promising to tidy for months and keep current  . I also have a thread to move which I also said I would regarding camping equipment and sleeping bags etc, its currently in the tents section and would be served better in the Equipment section. Rob has his own Admin things to sort out, that I don't even know about (as well as polishing his caravan  )

Oh and remember, we never forget that all the members come here for of there own free will and can leave just as quick, so Mods and Admins are not in charge but are here to serve. Its something we all feel strongly about in Admin. If all the members were to leave tomorrow it would leave 3 of us chatting to ourselves  .

You may also notice that the forum has strong ties to Inatent, both Andy's set there forums going about the same time and supported and aided each other in the early days (and now), whilst Andy from inatent has the same powers as Admin, he never interferes or uses these powers and only ever clicks the report button for spammers, other than carrying out Mod and Admin duties within the Inatent reviews section.

I share this information because as always we try to be as black and white as possible and have an open friendly forum.

Thanks for reading and feel free to ask any more questions or indeed share concerns with us, we won't be offended by feedback, ever.

Wayne

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

That made interesting reading, as well as giving more in depth description of mods and admin's, it also covered a history of the forum and also :iat: I suspected they were linked, but didn't know in what way, now all has been revealed. thats one of the nice things is seeing who is using multiple accounts on certain IP's. Users Ip's can say alot, it comes in very useful in checking for people using cheats in games on-line, as ive done plenty of that in my time..

But that was many moons ago, only time im interested in ip's is when im making sure my ftp sites are correct :)

I've got a question Wayne, how come my name isn't green? I'm an IAT editor, joined the club & everything, & I never turned green

No, not like that!

I do like this forum though. I recently re-joined sUKCS, started a new email address & everything. I even used a different browser. But I got slack & went back to Chrome, they must have rumbled me this evening, as I keep getting the "OOPS" message.

Anyway, when I re-joined I was told (on my specially written "hello I'm a newbie" thread) what a lovely, friendly forum it was, & how they weren't "snobby" like other forums!

Now I'm sorry but, :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

WTF??!!! (Do you know they don't even have a proper welcome section!)

This place has always been good to me, & I've learned a thing or two as well. I do notice some newbies sometimes, who almost seem emotionally scarred from a certain other forum. It's difficult to explain, they can seem almost touchy, or on their guard. Until they realise no one's going to jump down their throat or shout at them here. It really is the friendlier camping forum.
