The Classic (not) Fashion Thread

I don't know where mum finds them, but I really wish she wouldn't. He wears them as slippers, and only stops when the soles dissolve, which is usually months after his toes stick out of the top! Arrrrggggghhhh!

I do like a chap in guyliner though. Don't know why. Mmmm. Brandon flowers wears it well. ;-)

Oh yeah, I had Kickers.

Then there was the whole baggy thing. Joe Bloggs, hooded tops. Cool as F*ck Inspiral Carpets T Shirts.

True story....

in about 1985/6, my cousin met a boy in Durham Ice Rink at the Friday night disco, (she would have been about 15 or 16) he seemed like a nice lad so arranged to meet him the next day in the market place, around noon. When she got there, the boy was there waiting...... wearing burgundy Pod slip-ons, burgundy stay-press trousers, burgundy granddad shirt and a burgundy mohair cardigan!!!!!!!! "You look...... nice" says she. "Thanks" says he, "and this" he said pointing to the cardy, "I knit myself"!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahahhaahahah, laughed at that for years. She made her excuses and left. :D :D :rofl2: :rofl2:

i think i must have missed them kinda years, most of the time i wore doc martin boots, that was always the ox blood ones, later on went for the 14 hole in black, it was normally a painted denim jacket in summer or a tasselled leather and the old donkey jacket in winter the ones with the leather type shoulders.. then i remember a craze for light jackets with a tartan type lining, cant remember what they were called ( i was still attached to leather jackets then) lol...

Even then i always carried a sheath knife of some sort and the means to light a fire each night in the local woods, a group of us always went there every night both boys and girls, that was our local haunt, we never did stand on street corners like kids do these days..

Me and my OH had a discussion similar to this sometime last year. I used to wear monkey boots and a harrington jacket. We used to put our names on the back in those iron on red velvet letters. And I had a pair of ox blood dockers. After taking a trip down memory lane my OH bought me a vintage fishtail parker (green) and a pair of ox blood Dr martens. Never thought id wear them but they have come in handy when walking the dog in the rain. Did anyone ever wear a rude boy or rude girl t shirt?

OMG brings back a few memories...

think I must have been a slave to fashion... or music, or both... I went from a 'mini' punk, I could have only been about 8 or 9, going to see Peter and the Test Tube Babies (honestly) in Brighton, with tartan bum flaps pinned to my jeans, with my 14 hole Doc Marten's on (mum and dad thought I was with my mates, not 40 miles away, they would have had kittens if they had known at the time...)... to Fish Tail Parkas, Crombies, Harrington's, sta press, Fred Perry shirts (My son is now wearing them!), desert boots (the one's that were suede), Trilby and Pork Pie hats, to becoming a 'dresser' with Pringle jumpers, Burberry, Kappa and Tachini trakkies... Kickers (as already mentioned), and so it went on... My hair at one time resembled that of the lead singer of the 'Flock of Seagulls"... and at one stage looked like 'Max Headroom'...

Siiiiiighhhhh...

I had a great yoof...

I'd forgotten about Max Headroom. :)
My daughter has asked for a pair of Doc Martens for Christmas, that's when you know you're getting old, when the fashions come back around.
Happiness is packing your tent away dry & getting it back in the bag :-)

Max Headroom. Never really got that program but liked it. But good call also forgot about it. I had a Max Headroom calendar, it was well cool and had an extra month after December called Maxember and it was 30 days of additional Bank Holidays. Brilliant.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...
