Hopefully rex is being ironic and everyone is all to aware of the difference between "weather" and "climate" one is local and highly variable over time the other isn't.

So whilst we've been having a cool summer (it's the effect of La Niña iirc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Ni%C3%B1a) other parts of the world have had a roasting.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/1 ... 02392.html

Oh and 20 years ago we were already into global warming, if it had been the coldest for 200 years it might have been more significant.

Of the 11 hottest years on record 10 are from the last decade ... yes all 10 from 2001 - 2010 are in the top 11. The 11th is 1998. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrument ... mest_years

Just wanted to nip that particular fallacy in the bud.

Yep, global warming is a myth whether it's hot or cold.

Actually I'll change that slightly:
Man made global warming is a myth and also the biggest con trick ever played on the public by western governments.

Hi
Val just told me that we have just experienced the coldest summer for 20 years,
But you lucky campers can still cuddle down in your sleeping bags and listen to the rain pattering on canvas,While I will have to listen to it hitting the fiberglass roof what a terrible sound.
Regards
Rex.

ROFL there's always one.

So let's see hundreds of separate research scientists from right across the globe have made up global warming to protect their funding ... or the large wealthy oil businesses have tried to rubbish their research to protect their enormous profits.

Well obviously it's the research scientists I mean the oil business would never stoop so low.

There's a big difference between being skeptical and being in denial.

I was actually referring to the raft of "green" taxes that governments have introduced in order to "save the planet."
I would happily debate this with you but perhaps it would be better in a dedicated thread.

Back to the OP, pleased you're Tin Tent is ok Rex, always a concern when you buy something second hand so it looks like you've done well. Should give you plenty of opportunity to enjoy some late season camping, mind you the weather in October is always warm and sunny these days. ;)

Well we are ready for tin Tenting in winter
We have a fully winterized tin tent, with a liquid central heating system that will run of electric 3 KW or gas to 4 KW or use both at once that will give us 7 KW of heating  the internal water tank holds 30L and a 40L aquaroll that I have converted a 100Watt fish tank heater to go in the tank with the pump to keep the standby water outside from freezing We now have our winter awning roof liner and winter storm pole set for the awning. So it can snow. Val's TV set up is working a treat,on test I had four 5ft sections of 1.5inch pole's with the 4ft antenna on top going through the parasol hole in the pateo table and into the concrete holder, and we received all the free programs teletext and the normal ones so we will be able to see the queens speech when we are away over Christmas and new year   Still there is my dongle to play with :D in my laptop of course.
We are away next week just down the road near Bude. Val talked to the site owner and they will inform us if the pitches are reasonable even in a tin tent you don't want to walk through mud. They do not have all weather pitches. but the fishing is easy and accessible.
Well we are tin tenters so we will do what tin tenters do, go camping all through the winter.
Regards
Rex.

sounds a clever idea with the fish tank heater, just i cant figure out how you modified it... the rain doesn't sound nice on a caravan roof, its even worse with hailstone..

happy tin tenting over the winter,

Hi MOKAS.
Nothing technical required  I just cut the plug off joined a cable with a joining block and bound it well with self amalgamating tape, power will be drawn from the external 13 amp socket and will be passed under the caravan over the chassis. The ZiLONG-700 heater is only 100Watt with a built in adjustable thermostat. We used a similar one in our last homes small garden fish pond on a float of polystyrene and this kept a small hole clear of Ice for about 10 " diameter all round the heater.
All the Best
Rex.

my thoughts were a little over engineered than yours, I was thinking you had removed the sealing stopper in the end of the tube and re set the temp control, then re sealed it with tank sealer, as for extending the cable, i was thinking you had gone down the route of soldered connections, covered with glue lined shrink wrap to seal it all off.. Bit of advice with self amalgamating tape, its not uv resilient, so when i use it for antennas and outdoor sealing i tend to give it a final wrap over with a quality pvc tape thats uv protective..
