The star at Alton

Postby Villalad1 on Sun Jun 26, 2011 8:52 pm

Hi all well we back from the star Alton and I must say we loved it. The site was clean and tidy, the toilets and showers are spotless and the pitch was perfect. Only down side was the some pitches were on a slope but the pitch we had was ok. The staff were friendly and allways stopped for a chat. The nearest supermarket (morrisons) was a good drive away but the theme park was about 5 mins away witch was good as we wonted to take my daughter there anyway. All in all we had a good time and would go back again.
This was the first time we pitched our Oakland xl and it went like clock work. We had no problems at all and just love this tent and all the room it gave us even packing it away was no problem and I got it in the bag first time :) we are looking at getting away again soon but this time for a week at least
Thank and happy camping

sounds like a great place to go camping! could you walk to the theme park? i would love to go camping next to a theme park! i think my kids might like it too... and since we're on the topic, know any other cool family places like that?
To pitch a tent or bring a camper, that is the question.

I've often wondered about The Star and now its had a stamp of approval I'm gonna make an effort to go. I'll leave it until next year when my youngest is old enough to appreciate Alton Towers, but will certainly be going for the weekend.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

I have stopped at the Star in alton, it was ok, nice and quiet, the owners tend not to like groups of young people going to the theme park, they only accept couples or families. So the campsite is ok, they are quite strict from what i remember. And it's 200 yards from Alton Towers too!

There's a nice pub just up the road aswell for something to eat
