Edale - First camping trip in 25 years

Postby cuddlykoala on Mon Apr 11, 2011 1:19 pm

Hi all, went to Edale on Saturday and stayed at Fieldhead campsite with my dog "Lady". It was a lovely break, perfect weather and enjoyed re-visiting past haunts. Here are a couple of pics of the scenery...

You were right on my doorstep, should have stopped by for a cup of tea :)

great pics, you picked a great weekend for it! I had hoped to get away myself but too many jobs to do sadly.

Lovely, bet you had a nice time

Huff, which village you in if you don't mind me asking.

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

it was a cracking weekend, we were up on Stanage getting a tan

How was Fieldhead ? Figured it would be busy and noisy but such a fab location

We are booked into North Lees this weekend for some peace (I hope) its only 10 mins from us but it could be a hundred miles

Fieldhead was busy, lots of DOE and other groups but the pitch I was on (next to car park) was OK. I didn't sleep much though mainly down to the mummy sleeping bag, restricts me too much.

thanks for the Fieldhead info, need to pick an off season trip there me thinks

my Wife hates mummy bags but the square ones are too cold - have you looked at Vango 450 SQ (or ligher) the SQ models are mummies with room to move and square bottom ends, worth a look - no fun being cold

Lovely. Am waiting for my wife to have a weekend off so that I can head to Edale for a day on the hills. Its drivable within 2 hours. Haven't been since I stayed there with the school (except driving through the Peak District) and that was a long time ago
