When my youngest was about 6, she went out with her friend and her Mum . Unbeknown to the Mum my darling had filled her pockets with sachets from the cafe , as they were getting on the bus to go home, they all fell out !
Luckly the mum thought it was funny as well, once the reason why had been explained. :D

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

My two daughters even have specific hits. Youngest is Tomato Sauce monitor and eldest is on the Mayo sachets. OH gets the Salt & Pepper Image . I just sit with a slightly disgusted look on my face, then if they get caught I can distance myself Image

Having just read Merlins Camp Diary, I notice he gave us a tip, possibly without even realizing it.

He mentioned his daughter was ill in the night and was sick in her sleeping bag :? , they promptly cleaned her up and put her in the spare bag. I don't carry a spare bag, do you :?: .
So thinking about this more, if your youngster was sick or even "wet the bed", what would you do. What do you have with you in a tent at 2am to quickly sort the issue out.

As I mentioned before elsewhere, I do carry cheap bags to slip there mummy bags inside for extra warmth, but these alone or the mummy bags a lone are not enough in the colder months. I think I will be carrying a spare bag from now on  , another trip to Decathlon  .

I know this is mainly aimed at people with children, but adults get ill too, so its worth considering for all.

Got me again eagle eyes 8-)

The OH thinks it's overkill but we always take a spare airbed and a spare sleeping bag.
Turned out to be a good idea this time though :D

2054 2055 2056

I have some under bed storage bags from Ikea, they are perfect for storing the sleeping bags in over winter and preventing them from being compressed for too long, and damaging the loft within the sleeping bags.

The spare airbed is a lesson we learnt on our very first night of our very first camping trip. Waking up at 3am to a very soft airbed and then at 8am to find yourselves on the floor isn't pleasent (although quite funny). And because we were in west wales, we didn't have anywhere reasonable to buy another one, so paid well over the odds for a new one. We have now repaired the old one and take it with us when we go, just in case!

My top tips:

Always park pointing down a slope if there's one available, so if you need to bump start your car it's easier.
Invest in a few cheap carabiners to clip keys, torch etc. to your tent or belt and avoid losing them.
A light silicone grease or even cooking oil smeared on zips helps them in the long-run.
Never put wet ear-plugs in your ears.
McNett Tenacious Tape - miles better than gaffer tape for repairs.
Bin bags - emergency bivvies, emergency ponchos, emergency seats on wet ground... even useful for trash!

This one is probably a bit girly. I have a nice flowery tablecloth on my table, it stops allthe crumbs falling through the slats :D
All 3 of us also have a penknife each in the bedroom pockets,in case of fire. We originally had a fork each, but decided that just wouldn't be strong enough.

I read that one recently somewhere and used it on my last trip. Definitely a good one that.

The penknife thing is good for bears too. ;)

My other top tip. Leave some dirty clothing item inside the door of your sleeping compartment at night, so if you go out for a wee and get wet feet you can dry them on something before getting back in your bed.
