Hi all.
I had my first "wild camping" experience last August when a friend and I camped in Middleton-in-Teesdale & Barnard Castle, North East England. Since then, we've camped in various other parts of Teesdale and last October we camped for a week up in the glourious surroundings of High Cup Nick.
I'm thinking of taking some time off work at Easter, and we're planning on doing a spot of wild camping. We are savvy with the rules of wild camping (take all your litter with you, make sure you left the spot as you found it etc, don't poo within 30 metres of running water etc), and we're interested in camping near a place called KirkCarrion, up in Teesdale.
The main reason we want to camp at Kirkcarrion is because of Kirkcarrion itself. For those who don't know, its an ancient burial ground that supposedly embraces the grave of a King from the Bronze Age.
For those who know and have been to Kirkcarrion, I pose this question. Is there any good wild camping spots in close proximity to the location of Kirkcarrion? Or, are there any other good camping spots in in the area and Teesdale that you guys think would be nice to explore?
Any advice would be great.
