Looks great. The water in the tarns should be fine but theres plenty of springs up in the lakes. Make sure you take some pics

Personally, I would never drink the tarn water (having seen what the day-trippers do in it! :) ) unless it's boiled or filtered first.

But as Badger says, there are plenty of springs in the area. It's a while since I was at Angle Tarn, so I cant remember if there was any, but you could get some decent water from any intake streams into the tarn...

There's also a good supply at - NY 24967 07414 at the head of Rossett Gill, also - NY 24007 07049 at the head of Lingcole Beck. There's a few others in the area, just make sure its running and not stagnant.

It's either that or boil the tarn water which uses masses of fuel. :(

For over-nighters we use one of these - http://cascadedesigns.com/en/msr/water- ... er/product - bought specifically for the Lakeland tarns, it's sometimes difficult to find running water in the summer, even in the Lakes!! :D

As for parking, the NT campsite used to allow parking, for a small fee. There's also a NT (and council) car park about 1Km down the road.

Hey, thanks for the grids Donnelly69, I'll be sure to mark them on the map.

I intended to boil the water wherever I found it :) I have drunk from many streams and not gotten ill, but once I filled my bottle, took a swig, then looked up to see a festering sheep carcass in the stream. BLURGH! Still makes me shudder :)

As for dates, dont know yet. I still have some stuff to buy. Its a pain, I have EVERYTHING for camping but when you have to fit what you need in a rucksack, you have to buy most of it again but in minature! :D

Maybe Feb or Mar 2012, I doubt I will manage to fit it in this year.
