Yorkshire Site recommendations?

Postby Huff on Wed Aug 10, 2011 10:39 am

Can anyone recommend any good Yorkshire campsites? I've never really done much round that neck of the woods.

I'm looking for a site for a 4 or 5 day break in early October with the folding camper. Ideally within 1.5 hours of Glossop so will be looking on the western side of the county I would guess. Basic site will do, must have loo's, showers and electric hook up (tis October after all) but not fussed about anything else.

Cheers

We have nearly always gone to Knight Stainforth Hall at Settle, great site if you like walking, fishing etc. http://www.knightstainforth.co.uk/, If you do decide to go just make sure that you follow their directions as sat nav will take you to a small bridge that you will not get over in anything bigger than a corsa!!!

Thanks for the recommendation, but £19 a night is a bit on the pricy side.

if you dont know the area Sleningford near Ripon is a lovely spot - on the river, lots of peace out of school holidays - and not too far to some nice spots

If you are willing to travel over towards the North York Moors, we love Vale of Pickering. Particularly great for access into Dalby Forest, within a mile of the site, there is a bridleway up to the forest. Great for mountainbiking. Nice site, shower and toilets good, a small shop on site but that's about it. Stayed there 5 times.
