Pillaton Pools Closed for 2011

Postby Admin on Wed Nov 24, 2010 11:43 am

All,

Have been informed that Pillaton Pools (2010 campout site) will be closed for the entire 2011 season. Details are a little thin at the moment but it seems that the 2010 season brought the owners a few problems so they have decided to keep the park closed for a year with the notice that may open again in 2012 but as members only.

No news on their website as yet http://www.pillatonpools.co.uk/

Will keep you informed.

I have just got off the phone with Pillaton and they are shut for 2011 and possibly for good.

The reason thay gave was that there were a few instances of them being abused and attacked at 3 in the morning by drunken or drugged up campers, and destruction of property by the afore mentioned tossers.

They deem that (rightly )their life is more important than the money and thank us for our support but they can not continue.

This is a real shame. I did ask about the possibility of making this a members only site but at the moment they are not considering anything.

This is a real shame and is the few spoiling it for the many once again.

May be worth us supporting them by all of us sending them an email, saying we are from the forum and giving our support in their decision.

Its a shame it has come to this..

You can but only sympathise with them.. and its such a shame that a select few always spoil it for others.

It begs the following question though which is not for this thread.. but we need a new location for next september! which is a shame.. was looking forward to going back the kids loved it!

That's dead sad and I really do feel for the owners. Sounds like a nice site too :(

Nope, never took it out of the box. But, the salesperson said this tent was super easy to set up; even in windy conditions...

 That's almost a 100% price increase when the rest of the country isn't getting a pay rise this year

I can see by raising the price it will eliminate a lot of the bad element,,,,,but :(

Nice to see it open again though, might be discount for group/club booking

It seems a little strange to me.. its only a number of weekends which i understand. but due to the location they are always going to be favoured by groups its an ideal location... yet they clearly state no groups? add to that they have the rally field towards the back.. ?

They do accept groups from certified clubs (such as us ) but i am afraid they are just asking toooo much and at strange times.

Methinks the wedding thing has not kicked in yet so a few short weekends at a high price will help balance the books a bit. :tune:

Hi All

As A first time post on ths great forum I realy did not want to start off on a sour note and we where genuinely saddened to read that this site nearly closed due to an idiotic i hope minority but having seen this ridiculous price increase yet again at Pillaton Pools I have to say by any stretch of the imagination this price hike in todays economic climate is just pure greed. Myself and my family used to love our weekends at pillaton but all we have seen over the last 5 years is price increase after price increase. We as a family reluctantly stopped using the site 2 years ago for this reason. It is true to say that improvements have been made to this site on a yearly basis, but i thought you made improvements to attract more custom they seem to think that this is yet another way of justifying a price increase, I am sorry that fuel prices,Vat,Electricity, etc have necessatated this increase, Pillaton guess what we are all feeling the pinch!

With nearly a 100% increase this certainly is one way of getting shut of undesirables but what about your average joe bloggs and his family who only want a nice relaxing affordable weekend Camping.

It is after all only a farm site at the end of the day with no pub restaurant on site or in walking distance!

Sorry if i have upset anyone and i hope my next post is on a much happier note!
